Arguments with Myself

Yesterday the Speedo Pace Club made me swim a total of 1400 pull with paddles. 1400! That’s a lot of pull for me! So today, I loaded the next workout praying it wouldn’t have more pull, but low and behold, it did.  Pull is my second to least favorite drill in the pool (the catch-up drill is very least fave), even though nothing makes you stronger and faster.

I started swimming and my arms felt like they were going to fall off. Plus, I’m still pretty exhausted from last week. So this is how the entire work out went:

me: go!

my arms: Um, that’s a negative.

me: C’mon! GO!

my arms: I don’t think so.

me: Swim faster!

my arms: No-can-do!

me: You CAN do it! Just power through the pain!

my arms: Seriously? Are you kidding me right now?!

me: I’m not kidding! Just GO!

my arm: Not gonna do it!!!

And on and on it went. There is a heck of a lot of arguing going on in my head on days like these!

It may LOOK quiet in the pool, but it is not…not at all.
